Contest Winner! Oh and Thanksgiving

Tyler, Melinda and the girls usually come up for Thanksgiving, but wasn't able to work it out this year so we spent the holiday with my family.
My family has some fun traditions, old and new. We always make gingerbread houses, watch football, and have a pie contest, which is my favorite. My family really gets into it, even the kids. We have been doing this contest for about 5 0r 6 years now and every year I have won the best presentation. I figure just in case I don't win the best tasting I'll make sure I win the presentation. I have tested pies with trail and error and take them to Spencer's work, but this year I didn't have time to do that so I just went with my gut. I made a banoffee pie, with graham cracker crust, bananas, toffee, and whipped cream on top. Needless to say it was so fantastically delicious and yes I ended up winning this year, but not the presentation. I was pretty exited about it. I even have a spatula embroidered with Webb Annual Pie Contest Best Tasting 2011. It feels so good to win. We shall see if I can keep it up next year.

It doesn't look like it, but Clay really loved doing the gingerbread houses... and eating it too.

Of course we had to bring out all the Christmas decor the day after Thanksgiving. Clay has been at really fun age this year. He has been talking about Christmas since Halloween. He loves to see all the lights, hear the music, and all the sweets. I really can't wait for Christmas morning.

Clay loved helping decorate. This is him plugging in the tree for the first time of the season

Ansley likes to sit in front of the tree and look at the lights. We put the ornaments on top so she couldn't bit and suck on them.

This year we copied a tradition Tyler and Melinda have done with their kids and bought an ornament for Ansley and Clay. We will be doing this every year. I love this tradition.

I really couldn't find a good one for Ansley so I bought this one. Of course she was born this year and is our daughter, but I also liked that it had hearts around it, you know, since she was born on Valentines Day.
Clay actually picked this one out. He loves Mater from Cars. We had a tough time telling me that these are not toys, they are for decoration. I don't know if he understood that or if he just forgot about it, either way it works for me.

You deserved the win, it was definitely the best tasting! The pictures are wonderful and you idea of a new ornament each year is precious, except when Clay and Ansley leave they will take their ornaments and you will have to buy new ones!!
Love, Mom
