I have been working with Clay on different things such as where his nose and belly button are, or what does a doggy say. He has only done it once and after that its like he doesn't understand me or just is not interested. He watches signing time videos but he has never done any of the signs, he could care less about it. So sometimes I think that all my efforts are useless that this kid is truly on his own time and will do them on his own time. Than he does something brilliant.
Today Spencer and I were watching him play in the living room and it looked like he was patting his leg, doing the sign meaning dog. So I said "dog?". He looked back at me, crawled over to his basket full of toys and books, grabbed the little book with dogs in them, opened it up and pointed to a dog and actually said dog. Spencer shot up and looked at me so excited, as was I. Afterwards we were trying to get him to say what a dog says, which he will do rarely. Of course he didn't because we wanted him to. What a short glimpse of brilliance. He is such a little stinker, but he is so smart and knows what he wants and does it when he wants to. I think we have our handful with this one.

I am glad to hear that I"m not the only one saying they do things on their own time. Kith still hasn't seemed interested in walking or talking. Clay is so cute. You can tell he is very smart just by the things that he does that you have posted:)

That is so cool! Little kids do seem to be on their own time in their own little world. Pretty soon he will be talking your ears off. :0)
Oh, what a cutie! Kids definitely do things when they want to and on their own time and terms. Just keep working with him. You will continue to see that he will soak up everything. He is so smart. Love you.
